Sea passenger port
Riga Passenger Port as a quay for passenger ships, ferries and cruise ships with a special passenger reception building was built in 1965. Its architects were Modris Ģelzis and Vera Savisko, and the constructor Arnolds Briedis. The original project name was “Sea Passenger Station”.
Between 1995 and 2000, Riga Passenger Port operated as a the joint stock company of the same name, but later the company started to carry out business as "Rīgas Pasažieru termināls” Ltd., which rented the quay and its equipment from JSC "Rīgas brīvbosta” (Freeport of Riga Authority). “Rīgas Pasažieru termināls” Ltd. is still the owner and manager of Riga Passenger Port.
2006 was a crucial year of development for Riga Passenger Port, including establishment of close cooperation between the Port and one of the Baltic region's most important shipping company "Tallink" and launch of regular ferry between Riga un Stockholm. Since then the number of passengers and companies served at Riga Passenger Port, has increased substantially.
