Sculpture greeting arriving passengers
Already for half a century every Riga Passenger Port passenger is greeted by the copper sculpture composition "Daugava". It is situated at the Passenger Port building on the same level as ship decks. Its author is architect Ivars Strautmanis and sculptor Viktorija Pelše. The sculpture was erected in 1972. It symbolises the nest of a stork and a lonely bird whose fate is to accompany and await the port arrivals.
